I changed the batteries and cleaned the detector and it still keeps going offline and giving us alarms.

I had the same issue a couple years back with a two pack from Costco. First alert replaced one, that then also died. They then said I was (Edited per community guidelines) since I didn't have proof of purchase etc and I just chucked them. I had a newborn that kept getting woken up by false alarms and didn't have the energy to fight for a refund.
I have also dealt with lots of smoke detector issues over the last couples of year. Then after replacing my batteries , it was working fine. And after some time it starts giving us false alarm. and after a lot of struggle with smoke detector i removed it from my house.
How can we improve?
