Is tax applied to monthly plans?

I'm enrolled in a US monthly prepaid plan.  Where can I see the details of my charge each month - including taxes and fees?  Shouldn't I receive a receipt each month I'm charged with these details? The main reason I'm asking is that my total charge amount increased this month but I have no idea why
