Apart from the number of available addresses, what are the practical uses for IPV6?

Are there any distinct advantages for an IPV6 address, or is it perfectly fine to drop IPV6 in favor of IPV4, without consideration for usage conditions and other variables? This is the first time I've had to deal with IPV6 up close.

I have recently moved house and transferred my service taking my equiptment with me. UVerse and IPv6 Tunneling with 3800 HGV-B

Hi, I ran an IPv6 tunnel from Hurricane Electric (he.net) for a while with my U-verse account and a 3800 HGV-B. The latest software upgrade (6.9.1.42-plus.tm) seem to block IP protocol 41, and I no longer see traffic from he.net coming into the gateway (and no encapsulated IPv6 packets going out).

Slow connection using Google, Facebook, and certain sites after recent upgrade (2Wire/Pace)

If you are experiencing issues with loading certain sites, sites not loading completely, it is recommended to disable IPv6. The following goes over steps for a 2Wire/Pace gateway.   For steps for NVG Gateway, go here.     Thanks ATTJohnCS, AT&T Community Specialist

Is my routers IPv6 address static?

I would like to access my security system remotely without depending on a third party for address resolution. This is non-trivial using traditional dynamic IPv4 addressing. In theory, the entire justification for IPv6 is to avoid the need for dynamic addresses. AT&T (appears to) assign an IPv6 addre

How to get HE.net tunnel working with Pace 5268ac and pfSense

I've read a bunch of stuff online that seems to indicate that the Pace 5268ac will not pass protocol 41, thus making IPv6 tunnels impossible.  I'm posting here to say - that is untrue.  I have a Pace 5268ac, with a single public DHCP assigned address, working with a HE.net /48 routed subnet.  I'm wr

About two weeks ago, native IPv6 networking stopped working on the RG (5268AC). Everything's turned on. I get addresses assigned. But the RG cannot ping ipv6.google.com with IPv6. Either the firmware is hosed or this network segment has issues. It used to work fine.

ATT IPV6 tunnel issue solved (Cisco router only)

Just now I fixed my own problem...for once. If you have a Cisco router behind NVG510 in IP passthrough follow these steps: 1: Go to the gateway broadband status page. There you will find an IPV6 address and a border relay address. 2: The IPV6 address is a /60 so go to http://www.gestioip.net/cgi-bin
