Secondary hard-wired receivers

Piggybacking on an install question of Cat5 vs Coax here, how can secondary hard-wired receivers be hooked up?  It's my understanding that you have a main hard-wired STB/DVR and can then have 2 Wireless receivers max.  So for any additional hard-wired STB's can they be wired via Coax OR Cat5?
