Why do you bill in advance?

I signed up for ATT Fiber Internet on Oct 2nd, and I'm puzzled as to why I already received a bill with just 8 days into service. And you're billing me for service between Oct 2nd - Oct 9th plus one month (then) in advance (Oct 10 - Nov 9th). I know this language is included in your fine print that

How can I record my fall shows in advance?!

First of all, this entire service is not worth the money and certainly not user friendly! I'm forced to use it where I live. We had to swap from Xfinity (loved and never would've changed) So I go to set all of my regular shows that I DVR only to find that you can't record anything that's not current
