Visual voice mail doesn't show voice mail text
Visual voice mail used to transcribe your messages, I haven't seen that in almost a year. I've got an S20 Ultra on FirstNet.

It is no longer offered on AT&T phones. For whatever reason AT&T had Samsung and LG and other Androids remove the transcription option.

That is sad, and awful. Transcription was the entire reason for using VMM.
I really hate the idea of having to leave the AT&T environment, but I guess I will have to forward to a Google Voice number.
Shame on you, AT&T!

When AT&T did offer the service, it was pretty lousy. Verizon offers it for a $3 per line charge. It works perfectly on Google Voice , I don't see why AT&T can't just improve their system so that it can be used. Just charge like Verizon, if they must.

Agreed, transcription on AT&T VMM was lousy, but usually good enough to get the gist of what the message was or what I needed to do, without having to listen to it. Way better than nothing.
But also agree there's no excuse in 2021 for them not to offering an improved system.

I could not agree more about this. I will be leaving the Android environment (which I love), to go to Apple, because it still works on that system. As soon as we get these stupid phones paid for, we're leaving AT&T.

Why not pick one or the other?
It is a feature of iPhones, built into iOS. If you're switching platforms from Android to iPhone you don't need to change carriers oh, and there's no extra charge. It's an iPhone feature.
If you want to stick with Android then you have to move to a carrier that supports it, Verizon for the extra $3, I don't know if T-Mobile charges for it or not.
