Unable to network unlock Galaxy S7

Hi there

I have received a notification from AT&T to unlock my S7 handset.

I have followed the instructions below

Your unlock instructions:

1. Power off the device and remove the SIM card.

2. Power on the device.

3. Enter #0111*, the unlock code, and #. The device cycles off and back on.

However, nothing happens when I input the code.

If I input the code again and press the dial button I get a message saying "Not Registered to network"

Any ideas ?

Thanks :)

The phone picks up the network, i can browse the internet and send SMS messages but I can't make and receive any phone calls.

Well that explains a lot. The phone could not do any of this if it were not already unlocked.

The problem now is between you and your current carrier, which AT&T cannot help you with. You'll have to contact Vodafone and find out if the phone is capable of functioning on their Network.

We are here to help you unlock your Galaxy S7, @HumerusGetit.

We understand how important is to be able to unlock your Galaxy S7 after getting approved. You will want to follow these device unlock instructions to unlock your device.

  1. Power off the device and insert a non-AT&T SIM card.
    • If your SIM card slot is located under the battery, remove the battery.
  2.  Power on the device with non-AT&T SIM.
    • For devices with removable battery, insert the battery back into the device. Wait for the
message: “Enter the device unlock code.”
  3.  Enter the unlock code.
  4. Press OK.

Heads up: You only get 5 tries to unlock your phone. After that, you won’t be able to use it with another service provider.

Also, please be sure you are entering the code exactly who it was provided to you. If you would like to verify your code, let us know, we can bring you into a DM to further review.

Hi

Thanks for the reply

I followed the instructions provided in the email correctly but nothing happens.

When I insert a non-AT&T sim there is no unlock code is requested, I follow the instructions again and press the dial button a message comes up saying USSD code running, after 10 to 20 seconds another message comes up saying cannot process the request.

I can provide you the instruction in a DM if that helps
Thanks

Are you sure you were inserting a SIM card that is not from an AT&T network?  There are over two dozen AT&T mvnos in the United States. Consumer cellular, net10, Cricket of course, and many others.   Any of those service providers will work with an AT&T locked phone. And the box to enter unlock code will not pop up.

You have to use a SIM card from a competing carrier. Metro by T-Mobile, visible by Verizon, Etc.   Those should elicit a pop-up box when you insert their SIM card.

Hi there

I'm all the way in Australia and I'm using a Vodafone sim card.

There is no network unlock code when i put the sim card in.

The phone has the latest firmware installed and has been factory reset.

The phone picks up the network, i can browse the internet and send SMS messages but I can't make and receive any phone calls.

Thanks

Hi

I spoke to Samsung AU and US directly and they both said the phone is network carrier locked to AT&T hence why I submitted the unlock request with AT&T.

I will check with Vodafone here and see what they say :)

Will update this post once I get more details.

Not possible.

If the phone were still carrier locked inserting a non AT&T, in this case Vodafone SIM card, you would get no service and a message in your top right hand Banner would say sim not supported.  You would not be getting data and you would not be able to send or receive SMS.

But that's not what is happened.

The only way it would be possible to use text and data is if the phone is already carrier unlocked.

I spoke to Samsung AU and US directly and they both said the phone is network carrier locked to AT&T hence why I submitted the unlock request with AT&T.

How would either know?  They would not.   And if you describe to anyone what you describe to me that your phone does work with data and text on Vodafone, they should have correctly informed you that the phone must be unlocked but not capable of voice calls on Vodafone.

Yes this does make sense, thank you :)

I have been trying to make sense of these for the past few days it's been frustrating.

I have spoken to Vodafone and they finally said all the device is indeed network unlocked, so it's something on the phone that is blocking the outbound and inbound calls, I have no call barring enabled on my account. I need to take it to the local shop for them to have a look.

I even tried to follow these instructions to see if any call barring was enabled on the phone https://mobilesupport.telstra.com.au/samsung/galaxy-s6-edge-plus/calls-contacts-calendar/turn-call-barring-on-or-off/ and it comes up with an error message "Failed to read data" Something went wrong, Check your SIM card or network connection.

Will see what the local shops say :)

Thanks
