Recording Calls

I have a Samsung Galaxy S22, and in all of my research it's easy to enable recording calls on this phone, however for me the option just isn't where it should be. I now think AT&T has restricted the ability to do this, and I don't know why.

We'll be more than happy to explain it, Jkane.

You're correct, Galaxy S22 series devices do not allow call recording due to privacy rules. If a call is to be recorded, the other individual needs to be notified or else it is illegal. Our apologies for mistakenly thinking that you were outside the US. Thanks for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums!

All this says is google has a problem with it, and that third party apps will be removed. "Hence, if you use a Samsung phone ... you can continue to record calls the way you do".

This isn't there, but should be

Looking further into it, seems like it is based on where the device is from, where it is or isn't legal. I bought the phone in the US, so because it is mostly illegal here it was disabled.

We understand your frustration with not being able to enable call recording, Jkane. Special thanks to our ACE, formerlyknownas for their quick response.

Are you outside the US now? That explain why you're unable to record calls. We would recommend using these instructions to help:

  • Step 1: Open the Dialer app on your Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, or Galaxy S22 Ultra.
  • Step 2: Tap on the hamburger menu (three dots) in the top right-hand side corner.
  • Step 3: From the menu that appears, select Settings. Then tap the Record calls option.
  • Step 4: In the menu that appears, toggle the switch beside the Auto record calls option.

If the above suggestions are not effective, we recommend reaching out the carrier in your country. Thanks for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums!

Well I am in the US, and also as mentioned/shown before, that option is not available to me. There is no "Record Calls" option under settings.
