No longer showing read receipt in text

HI,  My boyfriend and I both have the Samsung Galaxy S22+.  After he did the upgrade this weekend, neither one of us see or have the notifications of Delivered, read, etc.  We have not changed our settings, and they all show that we should be getting them

Hi there, bethmurray1175. Let's look into what's going on with those read receipts for both of your Samsung Galaxy S22 Pluses.

Here are a couple of troubleshooting steps you should try.

  • First, power cycle your devices. By closing all programs and finalizing all pending input and output operations before restarting in a soft reboot, this action has helped resolved similar trends on numerous devices.
  • Make sure Advanced Messaging is enabled on both devices. Our Advanced Messaging experience, Rich Communication Services (RCS), offers features like read and delivery receipts, is typing notifications, large file transfers, and group chats.
    1. The feature is ON by default.
    2. Open the default messaging app on your eligible AT&T smartphone and tap Menu, then Settings.
    3. Choose Advanced Messaging and tap On or Off. If you’re using the Messages by Google app, you can enable or disable chat features.
      • Tap On to send read receipts.
      • Tap Off if you don’t want to send read receipts.
    4. Start sending and receiving messages and files.

Everyone in your conversation must use RCS eligible Android smartphones with Advanced Messaging or Chat Features turned on. We started to feature Messages by Google as the default messaging app on new Android smartphones with Android 12 OS and above that launched on or after February 25, 2022.

There's more information under Good to know just beneath the table at Set up Advanced Messaging.

Try this and let us know how it works for you. We want to find you a resolution into why you are not able to use read/receipts as you were before your boyfriend upgraded his phone.
