Need to delete unwanted app

I went to close a window (playing Jeopardy on my Samsung Note 8). Clicked on the "X" and here comes an app downloading - grrrrrr. Cannot delete the darn thing - option is grayed out. It screwed up my home page, changed the appearance of my icons and in general, played havoc with my phone. It is Weather Home - I don't want it. Got any suggestions on how to delete? I've Googled like crazy - nothing has worked.
