I have an S5 active. Since the lollipop update WIFI connectivity has problems.
It often does not connect properly. I have to turn wifi off and on again before it will connect.

Perform a backup, then factory reset & clear the cache, then restore. This has proven to fix 9 out of 10 issues after the update. You might try disabling Smart wifi first and see if that helps, as the app has been a problem in some devices.

Hmm. I know how to do those things on a rooted phone, but this one's not. How do you backup and restore a non-rooted phone?

Download the Samsung app (was called Kies, something else now) to a laptop and use a USB cable to backup to the laptop.
