How do I Unlock my phone

Hello AT&T team. I was gifted a phone by my friend in the US, Viginia. Please help me unlock the phone because I am now in a different country and I can not use another sim card.

Regard

Hello, @SamTAT! We want to help you unlock the device!

You can submit the device unlock request online at att.com/deviceunlock. Select Unlock your device and follow the prompts. Check your email (including spam or junk folders) or text messages for updates on your request. If you don't have a wireless phone account, you have to select Confirm request on the email we sent you or request will be cancelled. Go to att.com/deviceunlock/status and follow the prompts.

Keep in mind it usually takes a few minutes to approve the request, but it could take up to 48 hours. If you cannot find the email or text message we sent you, submit another request, and we will resend it.

Also, you have to meet the device unlock eligibility requirements:

  • The device is an AT&T device and is not active on another AT&T account.
  • Was paid in full when purchased otherwise you have to wait 60 days to unlock it.
  • Has a paid of installment plan.
  • Does not have a past due balance.
  • Has not been reported lost or stolen, or involved with fraud.
  • is an AT&T Prepaid phone that has had paid service for at lest six months.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

To unlock a phone, use the unlock portal:

https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/

If you have an issue submitting an unlock request because you are outside of the US, ask your friend to submit.
