Hey there @bigal0522!

I am sorry to hear your device has been displaying "SIM Card Not Found" whenever you try to use it. Good news, this happened to one of my old devices, so I definitely know how to get this fixed.

The first thing we are going to want to do is remove the SIM card from the phone. You would be able to find the steps on how to do this in our Device Support page. When you arrive, please make sure to select Samsung Galaxy Note 5 as your device, then click on Tutorials > About your device > Insert SIM card.

Once you have the SIM removed from the device, you are going to want to take a lint free cloth and gently clean the gold side of the card. After this, go ahead and place it back into the phone, and power it on; if the notification pops up still, then the SIM may have gone bad. We will want to look into replacing it.

If after cleaning the SIM, you are still having this issue, we will want to look into replacing it entirely. Don’t worry though, replacing it will not hurt your phone in any way, and will not remove any personal items such as contacts or pictures from your phone; unless you had personally moved them to the SIM. The best way to replace it would be to visit the nearest AT&T Store, and even better there is no charge to you!

If any other questions arise after you have completed the above troubleshooting steps, please let us know. We’re always happy to assist further in any matter. Have an awesome day!

I have a Note 5 and received the same error messages. Not only that but wifi calling is broken which makes my phone non functional in the house. I took the phone into At&t to ask for a new sim or some sort of fix (replacement?). The sales rep told me that these updates break the phones when they want you to upgrade. Hmmm! I filed an insurance claim and the only offer was to replace the Note 5 with an Edge 7. Not interested in a non pen phone since that was why I chose the Note in the first place. Or, I can pay $120 for a new Note 5. Not interested in that either since the phone was fine before the updates. After looking through the posts on this forum it's obvious this is broken for everyone. I can wait for the Note 8 but I don't think I can trust At&t since that phone will suffer the same problems of having a broken OS that can't access Wifi calling.

Hello there @cd3000!

Thank you for joining us here in the Community Forums. Whenever an update alters specific ways your phone works, it can be cause for concern. I will be more than happy to assist you on this.

Since you have noticed the issue to begin, have you attempted to reboot your phone? By powering your device off and back on, this can assist the phone to refresh its system.

I would also highly suggest taking the device into a near Samsung Experience center for additional help. The wonderful technicians will be able to re-apply the latest update onto your device. This may help in clearing up the problem.

The Wi-Fi call feature may need to also be reset. You can learn how to access and toggle this setting with our Device Support Tool. Select your make and model phone, click on View all Solutions > Calling. This will guide you on how to turn the feature Off and back On.

If you are still running into any problems, I recommend running your phone through our Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool. Select your make and model phone, then click on Calling to get started.

Have a wonderful rest of your day!

Conspiracies. AT&T has millions and millions of branded Note 5s out there in the wild and on the network. If updates killed every one of these devices it would be the biggest media story in the tech world, front page and center on CNET, Engadget, GSM-Arena and everywhere else. "Manufacture update kills 10 million Note 5s forcing users to upgrade"

Updates reveal underlying problems that haven't bubbled up to the top. I had an iPhone 4S and when the iOS 7 update released it was the most unreliable phone I'd ever used before. Come to find out that solder on the CPU had weakened and some kind of surge killed one of the CPU cores. I guess all those times falling out of my pocket in between the seat of my car caused the solder to weaken on the SoC. That's what Apple told me anyways.

Hi Shenoah,

The links you provided say nothing of fixing Wifi calling or even resetting it. You can find that info however through a Google search. I guess you already knew that however. So, my last resort to getting my Note 5 working again is to take it into a Best Buy? I'm not feeling like that is going to be a solution either. I've been to the AT&T store, where it was purchased. No help there. I've read through online stuff. I'm tech savvy enough to dig through my phone to see that there are no toggles or switches that can be flipped or pushed that will fix this. The problem is the updates broke the phone and you guys at AT&T are just trying to appear as if you are helping but in fact you know that the phone is broken and there is nothing you can do till a new update comes out that fixes the problem.
