Android Auto not present on AT&T phones

I am not able to use my cell phones to display map navigation on my 2015 Honda HRV dashboard display.

As AT&T transitioned to a 5G network, my two 3G Android phones became obsolete.

AT&T provided 2 replacement phones:

  • U304AA
  • V340U

Here is the "About" information for the V340U:

Here are the first of the apps in settings:

Here is the error message when I try the USB connection to my Honda HRV:

I have tried Android updates.

Since I'm at Android 10, I cannot install Android from the Google Play store.

I really need to be able to use map navigation from my cell phone.

I appreciate any help for getting this working.

Would be advisable to upgrade to a more capable device

Have you checked with Honda? Could be that they need to upgrade their hardware for compatibility.

CyberSec380 - I was having the same thought. I was hoping that when AT&T offered a free replacement with similar capabilities that they would have considered (as a telecommunications expert) that I would need a smart phone connection for map navigation on modern cars that don't have maps built-in any longer, or at least alerted me to the lack of capability. Not just incovenience, but eWaste.

OttoPylot - you may be right. However, on YouTube videos for the problem, the Android App shows up in Android 10 and has a configuration screen with lots of switches. I think that the Android Auto module that was supposed to be built-in was omitted. Or at least I cannot find it. If it's missing from the phone, the car side doesn't matter.

@Rob00  We are not an Android family so I have no experience with that. Our Suburu has a Nav System that they upgraded for us for free once 3G was terminated. The other car doesn't have a Nav System so we just use Google or Apple Maps on our phone which is mounted on the dashboard. Works fine.
