Cheapest plan to just keep my number active?

Hi everyone,

My company is offering me a new phone plan that they'll pay for. I'd like to keep my personal number (because 2fac and a lot of people call me on it) but I do not plan to use any of the text/voice/data on it. I just want to be able to get incoming texts/calls. I will do all the outgoing and data stuff on the company plan.

My plan is to get an eSIM but I'm wondering what is the most cost effective plan that AT&T could provide for my use case.

Looking forward to hear your thoughts.

What you should do is port your number to Google Voice. There is a one time $20 charge but no monthly fee. You’ll be able to receive and make calls with that number using your company data plan. If you would rather keep the number on cellular, the cheapest plan ATT offers is the $30 prepaid plan.

Thanks @sandblaster that's what I figured but I wanted to double check if there was a plan I missed on AT&T. Thank you so much for your time.

Depending on the phone, there are other options that use the ATT network, but not with ATT directly.  One I've used before was H2O Wireless.  They have a plan that costs only about $10/90 days with minimal usage.  Pay per use.  I needed data on that phone on occasion, so I moved on to another plan.  GV would work for some purposes, but it can be problematic for 2FA.
