In order to switch from prepaid to postpaid you have to migrate your phone number in a corporate store. Depending on your credit qualifications, you may not be allowed to roam right away.

Prepaid does not roam in China. If you do switch to postpaid, you probably won’t be allowed to roam for 60 days.

As @sandblaster mentioned, switching to a postpaid account may actually result in more fees or restrictions while you are abroad. It sounds like our International Calling Add-Ons might be a better option for you. You can also check out our AT&T PREPAID International Calling Rates.

@Lynnz2001 Ignore ATTHelp. The international calling add-on is for international calls from the US. That add-on will not work in China. Once again, prepaid does not roam in China.
