Change plan back

Last month I was unsure whether I was going to keep my service with AT&t or not so I got the cheapest plan available the 30 plan. Plan so I entered the pin number for a $40 plan because it was a plan I've always had but it didn't switch the plan for me! What do I do cannot answer,. L

There is no pin code that will switch your plan.

You have to actually select  a different plan, then confirm a change in  plan in your online account.

You will be required to pay for the new plan as soon as you select and confirm it.

If you have paid for the $30 plan just recently, changing plans will terminate the $30 plan and you will have to pay $40 in order to resume service. You might want to wait until the end of your 30 days or at least the end of your current data plan to switch.

All you did by entering a pin was redeem a prepaid card which was apparently for $40. What that did was put $40 on your account. When exactly did you enter the pin for the $40? From your first post, it sounds like you did that last month, so $30 of that $40 got used to pay for the $30 plan. If so, you should still have a $10 account balance. If it is now time for your $30 plan to renew, you need to add another $20 to the account. If you still want to change to the $40 plan, you should do that before you pay. You should only need to add $30 to your account to pay for the $40 plan.

I'm thinking you need a full tutorial on prepaid, refill cards, changing plans, paying for plans switching etc.

Please be more detailed when posting.  ie: "I entered the prepaid refill card pin code on date xx/xx/xxxx.  It was for $xx.  Used 30 days service" .  Etc, etc.

We are trying to figure out what you did in order to help you. But you aren't giving us enough information.

What information you have provided, makes me think you didn't change plans, because entering a pin code does not do that. If you're referring to the pin code on a refill card all it does is enter an amount of money into your account to pay for service.

Therefore entering the pin code on a $40 card to pay for a $65 plan will not work and you will be without service.

Sorry about that, I was not trying to be unclear I'm just so frustrated that I messed everything up and on top of that the phone I got a week ago the screen stopped working so I'm just having a lot of bad luck with phones right now and cannot afford to purchase another plan for no reason.

What happened is I entered the information off the card which put the $40 to my account and I naively thought that since it was for $40 it would automatically change back to the $40 plan I've always had, after I input in the pin number I noticed an option to change my plan and clicked on the $40 plan which apparently messed everything up completely! When I called customer service the next morning as soon as they opened they told me I had to forfeit the $40 because I apparently hit the buttons in the wrong order about changing the plan and there was nothing they could do and that they couldn't just switch me to the $40 plan, which makes absolutely no sense to me! I am trying to figure out how to have a working phone without throwing $40 away because somehow I lost all service when I hit the change plan button and don't even have the $30 plan now! I am at such a loss as to what to do and appreciate any help that can be given, thank you so much

I entered the pin number for the $40 card the day my plan was due so nothing was past due and no days of service had been used.

Now that you’ve explained what you did, here is what I believe happened. When you entered the pin and transferred he $40 to your account, it was immediately used to renew whatever plan you had. When you selected the option to change your plan, that caused the plan that was just renewed to terminate. In other words, you basically threw your $40 away. Whatever plan you have now won’t renew until you pay for it again.

We are here to help you with changing your plan, Foxxy.

We do understand how important it is to be able to have service.

Thank you to the ACE's for the help!

When purchasing a plan using prepaid, you are paying for the service in advance. If you purchased a plan and then decide to change plans you will then have to pay for the new plan.

Let's meet in a DM to further review what happened while selecting your plan. You will find a chat icon next to a bell icon in the upper right corner of this page. Our next message will appear there.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums. We look forward to chatting with you soon!

Yeah unfortunately sandblasters last post addresses what happened. If you call 611 they may be able to fix it for you. Don't be surprised if it takes more than one phone call to get someone who sympathetic. Otherwise hopefully the contact from ATT help will be willing to assist you through direct messaging
