Annual plan double data promo for existing customers

I see AT&T is offering double data on its $300 annual plan: 16gb a month instead of the usual 8gb.

Will customers already on the annual plan start getting the extra data too?

If not, can they switch to it at renewal somehow?

My current plan does not expire until July 12th. If I sign up now and port my existing number over to AT&T, will it port over immediately or can I wait until my current plan expires? When will the promotion end?

Hello there @dbach1510, let's shed some light on you number transfer.

 

Don't cancel your current service. If the number is eligible to transfer, you’ll need to provide information about your current account to begin the transfer process. Any wrong information may delay the processing.

 

When transferring your number from another wireless carrier or AT&T wireless:

  • If you start your number transfer in an AT&T store, your number will transfer to us within one to three business hours.
  • If you order your new phone or SIM card online or over the phone, your number transfer may take up to three to five business days to complete. Your old phone will still work until you activate your new AT&T PREPAID phone or SIM card.
  • If you're transferring a non-wireless number, it'll take a minimum of five to seven business days to complete.

Currently there is not an expiration date for the Double Data, but please keep in mind this is an online offer only.

Please actually read your own terms before posting incorrect crap here. Forcing existing customers to arbitrarily get a new phone number is a poor business practice. Also I believe mrmartin86 is still waiting for a response if you care to actually read the entire thread.

Yes it appears they modified some of their posts, not to mention my own as well as modifying the order in which the posts were originally posted. Also see Danielle’s answer to my question “Are there any 12 month plans for existing customers” which was answered “…When you prepay $300 for the 12 months of service…”. It seemed like conflicting information and I just wanted to figure out which was correct because it’s a great deal.

My 80 year old Dad signed up for the 16GB double data as a new customer on 12/5/22  and paid $330. It turns out that 16GB plan expired on 11/12/22, but they still have the advertisement. When I called on his behalf,AT&T customer service said that sorry, that was no longer a promotion, but the advertisement is still online.

Is it possible for AT&T to honor the 16GB/monthly agreement with my Dad?

My Dad called me today and said he was down to 7.8Gbs because he was using Facebook yesterday and had hoped he was on the 16GB plan.

@Rustproof Whoever told you the promotion ended is wrong. It hasn’t ended. Are you sure your dad is not actually getting the double data? The way it works is you get 8GB of bonus data after the main 8GB of data is used up. Did he sign up for the plan online or through an agent or at a store? The bonus data only applies if done online. By the way, Facebook does not use much data. If he has 7.8GB remaining, that means he has only used 0.2GB.

@sandblaster He signed up for the 16GB plan online on 12/5/22, then we activated the new Sim card on 12/10/22.

If you know how I can get this to the 16GB data plan, then it would be much appreciated. :)

An AT&T customer service agent stated that this Double data 8GB x 2 promotion expired back in November and AT&T neglected to remove the expired 16GB promotion.
