Yes.   If you are signing up with a basic phone, the $2 a day or $0.25 per minute plan is available as soon as you start the process of signing up. If you sign up with a smartphone you will initially have to select a plan with data, don't panic!  You will not have to pay for that plan or use that plan you just need it to start the setup process. Before you pay and select your final plan you can change to the $2.

   But really, you'll get a more appropriate phone and low cost with Consumer Cellular or Great Call.  Both of those carriers have phones that are designed for older users and the plans are going to be just as cheap as the prepaid plan, which has a minimum $100 per year refill requirement.

This is exactly what I have been trying to do but I must be doing something wrong. I go to through the process of selecting the plan, add the sim card instead of picking a device, and it takes me right to checkout to fill in my data and submit my order.

Would there be a walk through we can use to get this daily or per minute deal without paying for a monthly plan?

@MrDoc99

If ordering online, you buy a Sim card, and a phone.  You don't buy a plan.  The plan is set up on the phone once you get it and set it up.

➡️  If you already own a phone, and are just purchasing a SIM card, you have to either call AT&T to order a SIM card to be shipped, go to an AT&T store, or purchase from a third party like Best Buy, Amazon, etc.
