ZTE Velocity (MF923)

Dear all,

I was told by my SIM card provider that a SIM card could have a slow connection.... My device is ZTE Velocity (MF923)

Has something changed here, in contrast to 2019. We did not have the impression that there was a slow connection here then....

According to the AT&T homepage, the device can still be used after 3G is discontinued in February 2022.

I don't know what to do at the moment - buy the SIM card, or a new, more up-to-date device?

Here is the link to the SIM-Card I would like to buy - see also attachment.

https://www.travsim.de/sim-karte-fuer-die-usa-at-t-netz.html

Here is the pdf that shows, that my device still can be used.

see page 9 bottom right

Or would you recommend ordering the SIM card directly in the US - and if so, where?

Thanks for your help and best regards.

Ralf from Germany.

Hello @,

We'd be more than happy to take a closer look into this slow connection that you've been experiencing with your wireless device.

We'll need some additional details in order for us to better assist you:

  • Who is your SIM card provider exactly?
  • Also, are you currently experiencing this slow connection with an AT&T PREPAID SIM card, or are you using a SIM card from a different wireless carrier?

Please let us know.

We'll be patiently awaiting your response.

Hello Sean,

many, many thanks for your feedback.

I don't currently use a device at all, but I would like to check in advance for my November 2022 vacation in the US.

And I was told that there might be problems with the connection speed if I use the SIM card from the provider in the link (https://www.travsim.de/sim-karte-fuer-die-usa-at-t-netz.html).

I was last in the US with my ZTE Velocity MF923 in 2019, I had an AT&T prepaid card then. There the speed was perfectly fine.

Maybe the data of the card I used at the time will help:

SKU: 6453A
UPC: 6 07376 35564 4
ICCID: 89014 10327 1335266050

the reason for my question is, that I would like to find out which card is best to use for my ZTE Velocity MF923, as I would like to use this WIFI Router again.

Many, many thanks for your support.

Hi RalfAl! Let's address your ZTE Velocity (MF923) device inquiry!

We can confirm the ZTE Velocity (MF923) wireless internet device is compatible on our network. We recommend our AT&T Prepaid hotspot plans or or our data-only plans for your mobile hotspot devices. Learn how to set up a data-only plan for your mobile hotspot device. You'll need an AT&T SIM card together with your new plan to use your bring your own device.

We hope this helps! Reach back out to us if you have additional questions. Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

Hello Rhoda,

Thank you very much for your feedback. Unfortunately, I have another question about the links you sent me.

I see everywhere here that this is only available for purchase in AT&T stores in the USA, but since I live in Germany, I can't access this offer.

Also, because I live in Germany, it is problematic for me to sign up for a monthly plan.

A direct question:

Is there any way to buy a prepaid card from here in Germany online that I can use then in den USA?

Or:

Is it possible to use my old SIM card, which I had used back in 2019 in the US,
to activate again?

My data of the card:

SKU: 6453A
UPC: 6 07376 35564 4
ICCID: 89014 10327 1335266050

My IMEI from the ZTE Velocity MF923 is: 8691420224291

Thank you again for your support.

Regards,

Ralf

Thanks for your response @RalfAl, and we'd advise for you to edit your post and remove your personal information for your device.

To answer your questions:

  1. There isn't AT&T stores or website access where you're located and your better option would be to set up your prepaid account when you return to the U.S.
  2.  We cannot guarantee the phone number from the previous AT&T prepaid account is still available. If it is, you'll still need to get a new updated SIM card.

Should you have further questions, to best serve you while out of the country; please call +1.314.925.6925 (free from device) or chat.

We hope this helps!
