Why can I send and receive texts but not make calls or go on the internet?
Last year I got a unlocked Samsung Galaxy note 9 and set it up with at&t prepaid. I could text on it (though occasionally wouldn't receive a message) but I couldn't make calls or go on the internet at all, but the wifi worked. I had it on the unlimited plan of talk, text, and data. Does anyone have any idea why it didn't work except for texts and how I can fix it? Do I need a new sim card?
I would like to get it set up instead of buying a new phone again.

The phone is not compatible with AT&T's voice over LTE service. Apparently your phone uses 3G for phone calls and there is no longer a 3G network. All carriers have shut off their 3G network in the USA.
The phone should have been replaced months ago. It is required that your phone be capable of making 911 phone calls in order to be considered a phone and kept on AT&T service.
If you try to use the phone again AT&T will likely suspend your service until you replace it with a phone that is voice over LTE compatible.
IMEI check.

Really? I got this phone because my bf has it and thought it would be a good phone and it is, except for the no service. 😅 but he isn't on AT&T so maybe that's why it works for him and not me?
What is the link for? Sorry I'm not very techy

The link is exactly what it says it is, and IMEI check. You enter your IMEI and it tells you what are the phone can work on AT&T or not
