Iphone 8plus - Hotspot does not connect to DELL laptop.
Hotspot was working earlier on iPhone 8plus and iPhone 7plus devices. From last 5 months I am not able to use hotspot on my phone. I am tired of calling 611 and waiting on line for such a long time. I am on prepaid account and I always have sufficient giga bytes for my internet usage in my prepaid account.
My laptop is able to detect my phone but once I try to connect it shows "No internet". Do I have to request to raise a separate request to activate hotspot? Please help. All my lines in AT&T (4 connections) has this problem. Would really appreciate if someone can help.

Let's address your mobile hotspot inquiry @rsuchithra!
First, please power cycle both your devices. This resets your device. Test your Internet to ensure you have a connection for your hotspot to work. Also make sure you are connected to the hotspot's network name and using the hotspot password on your device.
Learn more about Setting Up And Using a Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot to turn on mobile hotspot and ensure that you are connected. We also recommend turning on your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Lastly, check out our helpful Troubleshoot And Resolve Tool > Fix An Issue > Connection > Mobile hotspots and make sure you have the correct device at Change Device to help fix your Mobile hotspot connection.

Let's look into that for you, @rsuchithra!
In order to provide adequate support, we want to know more about your experience.
Afterwards, sign in to your AT&T account and confirm you have a compatible plan. It's possible to select a non-unlimited plan, but the overall data limit includes your hotspot usage.
Let us know how this goes!

My plan is $45 plan. But I still have 9gb of data available. Does it mean hotspot is not available for this plan? I was on a call for 1 hour with AT&T yesterday and a case was created. Today they have closed the case saying investigation is completed. But I still don’t have a resolution.

You are on an old plan but yes, it does include hotspot. As you said yourself, it used to work. Rather than continuing to try to get it fixed, you should consider switching to a current plan. Your plan gets 6 or 8 GB of data, right? The current $40 plan gets 15GB of data.

Hello @rsuchithra,
Thank you for letting us know.
Hotspot is absolutely included with your plan.
Are you experiencing issues with using your hotspot with any other devices, or does this only occur with your laptop?
Please let us know.
We'll be patiently awaiting your response.

Your hotspot does not connect to the laptop, it’s the other way around. The laptop connects to the hotspot. Are you saying the laptop can’t connect to the hotspot or are you saying it connects but can’t access the internet? Not being able to connect to the hotspot is a phone or laptop issue, not a plan issue.

@sandblaster I understand it cannot be plan issue. But in one of the online form it was mentioned to check if the hotspot feature is active for my plan and hence had to recheck. Now I tried testing it on my Mac and it was able to connect to hotspot. So I think the problem could be in my DELL laptop. I will check. Thank you for taking time and providing your inputs.

Hello @rsuchithra,
You're very welcome.
We would recommend that you contact the manufacturer of your laptop for further assistance with this issue, if you're still able to use your hotspot with all of your other devices.
Hope this helps!

Just wanted to update on the resolution of my issue. When the SIM card was replaced with another AT&T SIM the hotspot issue was RESOLVED.
