AT&T prepaid unlock eligibility
Hello,
I've been having att prepaid for 5 months. But in a few days I am leaving the United States for Europe for a long time and will not use the ATT network. I want to have my phone unlocked for the european networks. I read that to be eligible to unlock I should have my account with active service for 6 month. Can I just pay for the 6th month to be eligible to unlock? Or the phone should be registered in the network all the time during 6 months and the payment won't help in my case? Thank you!

Yes you can just pay for the 6th month, your phone does not have to be connected to the network. Just realize you won’t be able to unlock until the 6th month is completed, not just paid for. Also keep in mind that “monthly” plans are 30 days, so 6 plan months does not equal 6 calendar months. You can not unlock your phone until it completes 6 calendar months.

Thanks a lot for your quick response! It is no problem to wait 30 days. Could you please refer me to the general instruction on how to unlock the phone? Thank you in advance.

Hi everybody!
I have waited for 30 days with my problem and paid for the last month, so now I have 6 month of paid service. I applied for the unlock following general instructions on the website. And my request was denied. I got email about it which said: "We cannot unlock your device because you had too many attempts to unlock it. Wait 30 days and then send another request". This is totally lie, because it was my FIRST attempt to unlock this device and I met all the eligibility criteria. Another problem is that I cannot use att support chat to tell them about it, because I cannot login. Though I am 100% sure that my login (user iD) and password are correct the system doesn't recognise it and gives no way even to restore ID or password. Sometimes I got the message "Looks like the device you want to unlock is active on another AT&T account. The owner has to remove it from their account first. Did we get that wrong? If you're the owner, call 800.331.0500 or 611 from your mobile phone to confirm." I cannot call to the support team because the phone is not working in my home country and that's why need to unlock it. How to contact ATT support in this situation? Any advice/help will be greatly apprecited, I am totally stucked.

My daughter has an AT&T PREPAID phone. I want to cancel that plan and add it to the family AT&T wireless plan -- keeping the same phone and number. The only thing the website would tell me is that the number cannot be transferred but it did not provide a reason why or a recommendation. None of the Robot-CSRs, via Chat or phone, are able to answer my question or help. And the system would not put me on hold for a live CSR person. How do I do this? Is it like transferring it to a new provider (unlock and then the BYOD process)?
