Wireless activation and upgrade fees

I'm thinking about upgrading my iPhone 8+ to the iPhone SE. Do I have to pay an upgrade fee + an activation fee when I do an upgrade? How much is the upgrade fee and activation fee?

Upgrade fee only. Activation fee is for a new line. Upgrade fee is $30. You can avoid the upgrade fee by buying the SIM card free version from apple, then just move your SIM card from the old phone.

Happy to assist @smbshine

New phones are fun! Learn about all our upgrade FAQs!

An upgrade fee can go up to $30.

You can also upgrade your device early if you are still paying off installments!

You can upgrade online or make an in store appointment.

Let us know if this helped out! Thank you!

I appreciate your response ATTHelp but it does not answer my original question, which is Do I have to pay an upgrade fee + an activation fee when I do an upgrade?

Hello @smbshine!

As the previous agent @Ayla has informed you about upgrade FAQ's, yes the activation + upgrade fee will be included when you decide to upgrade to a new phone.

Please make sure to review the Frequently Asked Questions for more information on device upgrades, eligibility, and fees.

@ATTHelp Dwight, your answer is blatantly wrong. There is no activation fee on an upgrade, only an upgrade fee. Please stop providing false information.
