USPS in possession of the item - Trade-In

Hello, I have sent 2 of my iPhone for the trade in on 9/3/2022 one of them got delivered around 1 week ago, it has been processed, everything is done, it said that the trade in has been completed, but the 2nd iPhone is stuck in USPS in possession of the item, I have contacted USPS they said "Oh, if it's sent than it's sent we cannot do nothing, we can't track it". but then how did I was able to track the first one? also the return mail - is not insured so I don't have the option to even create a claim on USPS, and the AT&T customer service isn't helping at all.

You have tracking and hopefully a receipt from the postal service for having mailed your package?

Dont lose it.

Did the Postal Service transfer it to the 'shipping agent'?   This would be Pitney Bowes. The same tracking number would work on Pitney Bowes if the Postal Service transferred the phone.

Just so you know what your rights are, when you use AT&T's shipping label it makes AT&T the shipper. As long as you have proof that the phone entered the postal system, it is on AT&T entirely. In other words you are not responsible if the phone gets lost AT&T is. That doesn't mean they won't fight you on providing credit. You can file a Better Business Bureau complaint or an FCC complaint online. It doesn't matter which one the complaint will have the exact same result. The complaints are forwarded back to AT&T and usually you get a response within a couple of business days.  Typically they call you and the number will not identify itself as coming from AT&T so please answer the phone. They will ask you for tracking information or any other information you have about shipping your package.

Good luck.  Holler back on your thread if you need further help if AT&T isn't responsive.

Sorry, didn’t see the notification before, I just have checked on Pitney Bowes it says the phone has been delivered on the 11th of November, should I call att and ask them for an update of the trade-in?

If the phone was delivered on the 11th,  it's good,  it just took extra time. It got where it was supposed to. It's Not Unusual for it to take time for them to open the box and verify your phone.

Hello @JakubK, we are here to help you with your trade-in.

Trade-in credits can take up to 3 billing cycles before it reflects on your account.

Also, you can check your Trade-in status online by entering your email address and confirmation number. If you are unable to locate the status.

Let us know if this helps!

I have the same problem I traded in my iPhone for a new one and only had $200 to pay it off and they gave me a credit for the new iPhone they told me what the cost would be and I agreed on that… they told me to send back my old phone to them once I receive their phone they’re shipping to me and just put it in the Box have the label put on the front of the box… I got a tracking #  I found out the next business day that my item was picked up by an AT&T distributing center.

so I was like oh okay that was fast.. then 1 month later I got a letter in the mail that the iPhone I shipped to AT&T wasn’t the correct phone… what they received was a broken non AT&T device which was LG phone, I was told to send them the phone I owned or they won’t give me the credit for the new phone and I will be fully responsible to pay for the phone $200.00 which I argued with them about it and went out my way to the post office trying to see If I can figure this out and I had no luck … why would someone in there right mind not go with the promotion that was being given to trade phones instead loose out and get charged $200 from the old phone and loose the promotion…. That’s just ridiculous and unheard of. So 3 plus billing cycles passed I was told by someone at AT&T that I won’t be charged the $200 it will be waved. After 5 months down the line I checked last 2 weeks my bill statement and the $200 was added on my account as “ device not received charge $200… AT&T is a scam and they’re not taking the blame for it they’re doing everything in their power to not give the credit and wave the $200 fee… this is not my fault I packed it and shipped it out after the shipping non of this is my problem it’s carriers problem and AT&T’s problem I want a credit for that $200 or I’m going to look into how to proceed on suing AT&T for all the trouble and stress they put me through!!

@Sammyg229

What you are describing is a next early upgrade with return of your old phone to AT&T in excellent condition and working.

In my opinion mailing your phone is a bad idea and all return to AT&T for early upgrade or promotional upgrade offers should be done with the phone handed in at an AT&T store so that you get a receipt based on the actual phone handed over.

If you still have proof of which phone you mailed, You can try a better business bureau complaint online.

If you have any records for the IMEI of that phone that is clearly been stolen, blacklist it so that the thief that most likely works for your post office, cannot use it

First of all I  called AT&T for something else and then I was given that option. So I went along with it. I have had ordered phones in the past with them and never had this problem. This one time I did and will I ever go back again with this same problem I experienced no. Lesson learned next time it will be in the store directly.

with that being said. I do have proof of what I mailed. When I called AT&T about this situation. I asked AT&T customer service to Black List the IPhone 12 Pro Max 256GB so who ever stole it can’t use it..and that is exactly what they did!
