Trade-in promo offer cancellation if a line is deactivated within 90 days
I have been with ATT under a family plan for the past 3 years. Last week I used the trade in promo for the iPhone 15. Another line on the family plan requested deactivation. In this case, will my trade in promo credits become invalidated? This is what the T&C state:
- For new lines, if you cancel service on any other line on your account within 90 days of activating the line under this offer, device credits will stop.
Since mine and the deactivating line aren’t new lines, I believe the promo credits should not be affected. However, I need some confirmation to ensure that my interpretation of the policy is correct.

There won't be a problem. The purpose of this part of the promotional requirements is to avoid what they refer to as "false churn"
Since you're in a line is not a new line, this doesn't apply to your situation
It's really rather pointless, it should have been included when they had the BOGO deals. (T-Mobile had the sense to add this during their BOGO)
Since the current deals are open to anyone as long as they have a qualifying plan, it's not required to add a new line to get any of the deals. Even the no trade-in deals are eligible for existing customers.

Hello @Quotead, thank you for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums. We're here to address your concern. We know that this is something important to you.
Thank you for the respond @formerlyknownas. As ACE mentioned, you have upgraded the new device on your line, and you'll be receiving the credits of your trade in device on your line. In case, you deactivate your line then the trade in credits will be stopped. But, one of your CTN under your account is deactivating the line, it will not effect your trade in credits.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Thank you,
Mike, AT&T Community Specialist

Hi ATTHelp,
I am facing similar issue, att support call agent mentioned that as one of the line member moved out of the account while 2 other lines upgraded in same billing cycle, upgraded phones wont get any promotional credits, this is really a weird situation which is causing an inconvenience. How to resolve this issue. I have been with AtT for past 8 years and this kind of experience is not good.
