Pushy Salesperson

Did anyone go into a store to ask about upgrading and get such pushy sales that they left? We went in and asked about switching to unlimited data and upgrading phones to the Iphone 14. The sales girl wanted to chat for 20 mins first (you could tell they had all been directed to do so because it was happening around us too.) She went to the back and came back with Iphone 14 Pros with much higher memory, and "extra" phone to keep around for emergencies, tons of accessories and a paper showing how much she could "save" us. She wanted to double our bill and the comparison to what she could save us did not show our discounts. It all felt so slick and car salesman/timeshare sales that after I sent her back again. I tried to be nice, but blunt. The manager came back and gave us real numbers, but we left anyway to think about it. It left such a bad taste we were considering moving to another company.

I will have to say I believe she was doing it at the direction of the store and not because she was rude. This store is known for taking forever. Now I understand why. We know the lady ahead of us said she only wanted to come in for the next phone up and we could hear them trying to sell her a tv package.  Is it this way everywhere?

If you went into an AT&T Retail Store, that is how they operate. They are independently owned and operated separate from AT&T and only sell AT&T goods and services. They are not staffed by AT&T employees. Some of them have very questionable business practices that unfortunately AT&T has no control over being as they are independents. They stores look exactly the same as a Corporate Store so you have to ask when you go inside.

That might explain it. Thank you.

You can always file a BBB complaint against the store if you want.

Hi there @cramgal, that's not the experience we want you to have.

We'd be more than happy to meet you in a private setting to submit your feedback and look at your upgrade options. Please locate the chat icon in the upper right-hand corner next to the bell in the forums.

In the meantime, please gather your account information that you can share in the private setting. Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums.

We look forward to assisting you soon.

You don't need to go into a store to upgrade your phone or to shop the current plans. You can see both at att.com.

The new plans are a mix plan, simple pricing, just make sure you move the orange slider to the number of phone lines.

If you have a phone to trade in to upgrade to the iphone 14, please expand all of the information on the deal including the little arrows at the bottom to see eligible devices, and plan requirements.

If you have questions, please feel free to ask here, no one here has any skin in the game
