iPhone 14 Pre-order status says “ON HOLD” Why?

I pre ordered the iPhone 14 pro and Apple Watch ultra. The ultra says waiting to ship. The iPhone says on hold. Why would that be?

Hi all,

There are a couple of things that you should know about your iPhone 14 order.

 

First, the iPhone 14 Plus is subject to FCC rules as well as consumer protection, contractual and other provisions of federal or state law. It cannot be delivered until the FCC's authorization process is complete.

 

Also, preparing to ship means the order is being prepared to ship to you. An estimated shipping date/date ranges or promised delivery date/date ranges should be provided.

 

Make sure to check your email folders (including Junk or Spam) for any updates to your orders. Just to make you aware, the release date for the iPhone 14 is Friday, September 16, 2022.

Hi oneal1455, we're here to help you with your iPhone order on hold.  

 

The hold might be due to the large amount of pre-orders that Apple is receiving at the moment. This is not unusual, especially if you didn't order directly from Apple. We will fulfill the orders as they receive inventory, but direct Apple orders are usually given priority.

 

You can use our Order Management Portal to find the latest updates regarding the status of your order; you'll need your order number and the shipping ZIP code. You can also find additional information regarding order status and shipment at this forum thread

Why does my pre order status say on hold ? Is it because they’re not shipping until the day before release ?

Hey my status says the same! I was wondering what is going on.  I place the order yesterday at 7:57am EST and now it says “on hold”.  The only other thing I could find on the internet is about identity verification but I am not a new customer.  Hopefully someone will reply to us because I made a post too

So being “on hold” doesn’t necessarily mean an issue in this case?

Hey there, josuma16! There are several reasons why your order may be on hold.

 

It is likely that your order is on hold because you have a balance that's due which can include a down payment, or we couldn't accept your payment method.

 

Sign in to myAT&T to check the balance on your account and the bill due date. Go to My bill and look in the Make a payment section for your balance and due date.

 

If you've made a payment and want to confirm it, here's how:

  1. Go to Profile and select Billing & payment options.
  2. Under Payment options, select Manage payment activity & options to see your scheduled and recent payments.

You can even use our Star Services by pressing *225# (*BAL#), or *725# (*SAL#) for Spanish, from your AT&T wireless phone to get a text with your last payment details.

 

Check out the details under What to do if your payment is missing when you visit Confirm your payment. They contain steps on what actions to take if you still think your payment is missing.

 

In the event that a payment isn't due, you may need to use another form of payment so that the order may complete.

No.  I have a zero balance and the funds were authorized on my credit card so it isn’t those reasons.  This poster and I have the same issue.

I just talked to a rep and asked the same thing. They said it was due to the large amount of pre-orders but that there wasn't an issue and my order will ship on release date. 

I hope that's true...

I just pre-ordered the iPhone 14 Pro Max and my order status says “on hold”.  I didn’t receive an email about needing additional verification or anything like that and I’m trying to stay on top of it because I’m concerned there will be a delay. Can anyone look into this for me?

Just posted this in another thread with someone asking the same question because both my orders show on hold:

I hope that’s true too! I called this morning and she was like everything looks ok on my end.  I really hope so.  I ordered at 7:57 am EST. Did you ever get an email confirmation of your order? I never did so that concerned me too.

Yes I did get a confirmation, it took about 30-45min but it came through.

I’m having problems too! I got my verification email and I put in my ID but then I get another email saying there was a “technical glitch” and to call ATT, who are of ZERO help

I’m on the same boat. I placed two separate Next Up upgrade orders through my account  but I only received my second upgrade order’s confirmation email, not a single email for the first upgrade order I placed. I asked the rep over the chat and they said it’s should be still processing.
