I have ported my number out of AT&T and now I am unable to unlock my device.

I have ported my number out of AT&T and now I am unable to unlock my device. I have checked the unlocking criterion several times and made sure that my device is satisfying those criterion. But every time my request of unlocking is denied. And now I am not even able to submit an request as it is showing I already have an request pending.

Every time this comes up 🤦🏼‍♀️

It is far easier and makes for a smoother transition to unlock your phone while you are in existing customer. Now that you have canceled service AT&T will require that you wait until your final bill to be sent to you (by snail mail) and paid. Only then will all of your financial obligations to AT&T be complete and then your phone is eligible to be unlocked.

We understand your frustration with having your number ported out, but still not being able to unlock your device, @arnabroy.

Our ACE @formerlyknownas is correct. It appears that your final bill has to be paid through that month and the device has to be paid off, before it can be unlocked. You can use this resource to view our requirements for unlocking your device.  You can always try resubmitting another request within 24 to 48 hours, if you'd like.

We also recommend using this resource to check the status of your device unlock.

  • Select the link in the text message or email we sent you about your request.
  • If you have your request number and your device IMEI, you can go to att.com/unlockdevicestatus.

Please share the results with us. Thanks for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums!

I have been trying that for days. Regarding my final bill, I have cleared all my due bills before porting. What else do I have to pay?

You probably don’t have to pay anything but you need to wait until your final bill generates, even if it’s for $0.

Hi , we are here to address your device unlock request concern!

We recommend waiting for your final bill to generate as our ACEs advised to submit another request. Please keep in mind that you may have to wait for the pending request to clear out from the system to submit another one.

We hope this helps! Reach back out to us if you have additional questions. Thank you for posting on the AT&T Community Forums!

I have cleared my final bill too. Now I received a mail saying this, "You've tried to unlock this device too many times. Wait 30 days and then submit a new request." Exactly when can I submit a request again?
