How fraudsters get upgrades when att sends codes??

Most fraudulent purchases for iPhones are made through Apple. They are either ignoring security policies, bypassing security policies, or accepting alternative methods of verifying account ownership

There's really no excuse, it's better to turn someone away and say sorry I can't verify your identity then it is to allow someone to purchase a phone and possibly cause a genuine customer to suffer financial stress and loss. Not to mention their loss eventually will come back to the store, either the Apple store or AT&t, Verizon, t-mo, etc

Maybe I missed something but where in the question is the poster talking about an Apple upgrades? It's not just Apple that has fraudulent purchases, it's all brands of phones. I think there's more to the question than was asked.

Yes but i called apple & they said in order too get upgrades in the store apple has too send a code to the number on file & the customer has too read the code.. this is why i can’t understand how fraudsters are doing this when they only have a fake id.. its mind boggling .. apple said if you cant get the code there is no other way…so what is going on

That is true for Verizon. But I don't believe that is the case for at&t. Which is probably why AT&t still has a massive fraud problem. Verizon has cut down its fraud considerably by having a six digit code sent by text message to the primary phone on the account. And I know this because I have been a customer of both service providers.

AT&t's security and two-factor authentication are a joke. At least they're not as bad as T-Mobile which does very little to protect its customers data

I asked apple about at&t accounts & they said they need a code in order too upgrade which is why im so confused why all the fraud is happening with at&t .. how are these people getting the codes when customers have their phones in their hands @formerlyknownas if you google it all of the fraud happens with at&t not tmobile.. tmobile is very secure , they NEED that code in order to do anything
