HELP PLEASE - I HAVE BEEN SCAMMED OF MY IPHONE

Hello! I switched to ATT a couple months back and was only getting internet. When the technician was at my house installing the new internet, an In-Home expert showed up and started selling me on new stuff. I liked what she was telling me, and ended up trading in my iPhone, and buying a new one for "$7" a month or so I thought. She told me I could turn it in within the same month I got the new phone so I did so about 2 days after she came to my house. She told me that she would meet me in between runs of other homes so I could give her my phone. I met up with her and gave her the phone, to which she said give it 1-3 billing cycles and the credits will appear for the phone. After waiting and seeing the credits weren't applied, I called ATT multiple times and each time they said there was no record of my phone ever being turned in. Now every time I call they tell me some (Edited per community guidelines) that they filed a claim and I would get a response but I never do so and am stuck paying $40 a month for the phone.

File a complaint with the BBB. That will go to Corporate and a Senior Manager will contact you. They may be able to help but being as so much time has passed, with or without physical paperwork, you may be stuck. Written proof is what you need. Text only "proof" is much more difficult. The fact that you gave her your phone without any receipt is a big red flag. Phones can get "lost".

Well we have a time issue here. You said a couple of months ago. That is two. It takes three bill cycles per the published offer for bill credits to start against a newly purchased phone based on a trade-in.  Dates for accuracy please.

The other issue is a receipt. Anytime you trade in a phone you should receive a receipt.  The in-home expert should have left you with some kind of identification so that you have his name and phone number,  some kind of paperwork explaining the deal, the prices that you should expect to pay, etc

Where is that paperwork?

If the phone installments costs $40 a month, The maximum ($1,000) credit is $27.78 per month over 36 months.  Any quote for a $7 difference as the net payment every month was based on you ordering a base model phone.

Hi @eazo, this is definitely not the way we want you to feel about our services.

We want to know few details before we go ahead with solution for your question.

  1. As you have traded your phone you should have got some sort of receipt from the rep.
  2. If you could help us with the tracking number.

Thank you for contacting AT&T

She did not give me any receipt, I just have  my text conversations with her showing proof of all this, and it’s with her company phone. I can get you dates for accuracy. I got an IEMI # for the phone I turned in, and even went into an ATT store to get her employee ID. Besides all of this, how can I get in touch with someone who will actually help me?

Hey @eazo, we're here to help you.

Since they didn't help you with the receipt, we would request you to visit the same store, and get all the details regarding your device, and please reach out to us with all the details.
So that we can proceed further to assist you.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Thank you,

The store I went to was a random store, I just went to get the employee ID. That store has no correlation with the situation.

@eazo

Has it been 3 months since your switch?

Dates!

Customers who switched before July 15th were eligible for 25% off of their wireless account service plan.   25% off the current unlimited plans is a huge deal. After July 15th that offer terminated and the offer was $20 off of internet
