Financing Power

My financing power is shot because of employee error

A week ago I saw AT&T was offering a new line trade in promo. I have never had service with AT&T, and my current service isn't cutting it anymore so I bit the bullet & placed an order.

My order was processed online, set for store pick up. I paid ONLY taxes because I was trading in a 3 z flip[which they valued at $800 for a $700 phone], and they said my financing power approved no down-payments or anything.

Flash forward to pick up & the agent in store said there was an error processing the number port and our easiest option was to cancel the order and start from scratch with him in store.

We canceled over the phone with customer service & he began order/application #2. Then he drops "oh it says you have to pay a $120 down-payment now." The agent provides no further help & says "well you're either gonna have to pay the down-payment or try again some other time."

After I left I immediately call customer support. I speak with this agent for nearly 2 hours about the situation. I'm assured numerous times that they will get my original financing in order! On call agent starts order/application #3. Informs me now the down-payment required is $640. For a $700 phone with a valued $800 trade in...

On call agent gets ahold of a financial auditor (not sure if that's the department) she gets on & immediately apologizes & assures me she will have the 3 old applications/orders deleted & reset my financing power to perfect standing. She completes her part and tells the original agent to begin processing me from the start all over again. Application/order #4 & same thing $640 down-payment.

The agent says "we will try again in a week, must just need time to fully clear." So I wait patiently.

Week passes by & I get my call back. Agent begins processing application/order #5. Same thing, $640 down-payment. At this point I'm beyond irriated and ask for a manager (ew made me feel Karen). I explained my situation. & she assured me she would help!

Manager begins processing application/order #6. Low and behold, same thing. I spoke to 7 different "departments" today & not one provided real help. Scheduled for another "call back" in almost 2 weeks.

I have contacted other phone companies & they all say that AT&T has left me in a position that my financing limit will likely be messed up permanently with their company as well.

Has anyone else experienced this? Did you ever get it resolved?

1.   It's temporary.  Wait 6 months.

2.   Always do business in a corporate store from the start.

Bull cookies.  It's at&t internal rating.  Run your credit.  It will show at&t checks, which will fall off.  As there was no purchase.
