Don’t buy from Sam’s Clubs

Walked into a Sam’s club and sales rep asked what I paid for cell service, I said just under 200 for 4 phones. He said, what if I can get you 4 new iPhone 11 Pro’s for free and cut your bill to 160 by switching over to Att&t. I said what’s the catch, he says just port over your lines and trade in your current phones and you’ll get the new phones for free credited to your account. He said the  first two bills will be high and the third and fourth would be zero once the credits kick in. So I told him I could only switch 3 over and kept 1 line with Verizon. So we got the port pins from Verizon and switched 3 lines. I had to put over 200 bucks down at the store for the phones. He said to ship the trade ins back in the box our new phones come in with the provided label within 2 weeks. We did that, sent all 3 iPhone trades to att. First bill comes over 400 bucks, second almost 300, third still 300, no credits for porting the lines from Verizon and no trade credit. One rep said they don’t kn ow where the phones are , one said damaged, but I never received anything about the phones once they got sent off. 2 weeks after I received my new phones I get an email saying here’s your tracking label information to print to send in trades , we already sent them back with the provided labels in the new phone box like we were told. I think the trades went to the place our new phones came from, regardless att has them and they had return address’s  on them to send back if that was a problem so we can send to the right place. We called and told att about this and they said don’t worry they have the phones and would send them to the right place. Att&t Rep on the phone tells us Sam’s club reps don’t work at att and lie, there was never a promotion to switch to Att&t from Verizon and our 3 iPhones are worth 55 bucks and that there is no port credits for switching. Makes sense for me to switch from 4 lines at 198 Verizon to 3 for 288 at att and give you my perfectly working phones for nothing. Also the gift card I was supposed to get I didn’t , and the discount for my place of employment 20 percent I’m still waiting on. What a headache, never trust the people in the Sam’s clubs.

You are absolutely correct about the veterans discount... my mistake.  However, I was definitely misled by the sales person and I accept responsibility for it.

I was paying $55 total (taxes and fees included) with T-Mobile.  The Sams Club salesperson  sales person at the store also showed me a "document"  that my new bill would be $56 dollars--this is what sold me on the deal.

The document that was emailed is $85 Unlimited Extra - $20 in discounts + $27 iPhone 13. So $65+ $27 = $92 + taxes and fees.   Even when I get a veterans discount I expect to paying around $85

Nope.  Your missing the veteran discount, and you don't have to be on Extra.

Unless your area is high congestion, starter is $10 less., and you're 25% discount lowers cost even more.

The only thing that brings the bill higher than your T-Mobile bill is installments on a phone that you had to buy anyway.

If T-Mobile hadn't t already notified you, they would shortly tell you that in a iPhone 5S has to be removed from the network because it's not voice over LTE compatible and they are shutting down their 3-g Network starting this month.

End result on starter with all discounts and a normal bill will be a break even with your t-mo bill.

You can log into your account at any time and switch between starter, extra, and even Elite. It is essentially three different tiers of the same plan, 'unlimited your way'.

Why is the phone $27?  Did you add next up?   It's a $5 fee that allows you to upgrade early. Clearly you are not someone who buys a new phone every year. Cancel the $5 fee off of your bill. If you have trouble removing it yourself, call AT&T and tell them you want it  removed and a credit for previous charge

I love all the ATT employees, "iT's NoT aTt!" Yeah we get it. Here's the thing. Dude standing next to the ATT branded Kiosk. Wearing an ATT polo. Clad in ATT branded gear. Selling ATT contracts and devices. If ATT wasn't ok with this arrangement the Dude wouldn't be all decked out and branded scamming people out of their hard earned money. If they had a problem with the shifty isht they'd stop allowing third party vendors and sue the cheap suit right off them instead.

But they don't. Instead they send in bots and a few kool-aid drinking clown shoe wearing numbskulls to remind everyone that "acktually, uh, teknikally, they aren't AT&T"

Thanks for being less than helpful. What a joke. Would be more helpful if instead of typing you took a bathroom room break or went for a coffee.

Thankful my wife and I peeped this thread before we got caught up in all the "cut your bill in half and get free phones" pie in the sky swindle AT&T is running with third party vendors.

Sorry so many people had to get boned. Hopefully AT&T will make it right for yall.

Many companies use 3rd party retailers. And they only honor official orders with listed promotions. This is not exclusive to AT&T.

Like many others, I would prefer if they didn't use those 3rd party retailers. But that is how the world works. If they are in another company's store, then most likely they are a 3rd party and caution is advised.

This is a consumer forum, so most on here are customers like yourself. Those with the "employee" tag are posting on their personal time so can say it how it is for the most part. Only those with the official "help" tags are in an official capacity must adhere to a more business friendly conduct.

Just because you don't like our responses is no reason to create an account just to be toxic and insulting. To create an account for that reason would be the "joke" as you put it. Sometimes all we can do is provide guidance, even if the reality is not something you want to hear.

If you want help or guidance, then certainly start a fresh thread with your specific situation. Otherwise, if you just wanted to throw a tantrum, hope you feel better and have a good day.
