$800 trade-in question - does cdma vs gsm matter on the trade-in?

So we have a few old samsung phones in a box and we wanted to see about doing the trade-in offer for the s22; one for my husband, one for me and one for our son. I was reading the fine print and it says "Phone number entered on the trade-in should match the phone number of device purchased. If different number is entered it could impact promotion eligibility"

The old Samsungs we have are from back when my husband was on Verizon and I know they use a different SIM type, so A) are they even going to be eligible for this promotion because of that different sim type, and B) How are they supposed to have the same phone number if they're from like 10 years ago and a different carrier?

Also, we would be adding a line for our son so obviously that phone number can't match because it would be brand new.

Hoping im just misunderstanding that particular rule and it won't impact us.

For reference, he has an old S3, and I have an old S II epic touch. Have no idea if either one of them even turns on. I haven't pulled them out of the box yet, but the trade-in prompt doesn't seem to care about that.

I’m pretty sure the number doesn’t matter but there is a specific list of phones eligible for the $800 credit. Presuming your phones are on the list, that minimum $35 trade in value is what you need to worry about, especially if either of your phones won’t power on.

  • To qualify for $800 credit, trade-in must have min. $35 trade-in value before device condition questions have been answered.
  • Eligible devices:
    • Apple iPhone: SE (2nd gen), 8, 8+, X, XR, XS, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max, iPhone SE (3rd Gen)

I went through all the prompts for the trade-in on both old phones and they both still come out to 800 so i can only assume they qualify. Just wanted to make sure that line about the number matching and the cdma style wouldn't matter.

Cdma is/was 2g and 3g.  Any phone with a Sim card is a 4g/lte phone.  There are no CDMA only phones listed as eligible.  There are also no gsm only phones listed.

The model name is all that matters.
