Where can I buy a good phone?

I've been to two AT&T stores and three other retailers trying to buy an AT&T S7 or S8, and I've been denied at each because I have an AT&T prepaid and want to remain on prepaid. All of them said that if I want a good phone, I have to sign a contract. I've tried asking online why I can't just outright buy a phone, have my number transferred to it, and continue with prepaid, or if i can buy one online and use it with prepaid, but I can't get an answer. I'm getting quite frustrated. Can anyone help point me in the right direction for who I can contact or what retailer I can go to? I don't understand why this is such a big deal. I shouldn't have to sign a contract to outright buy a good phone. AT&T is getting my money anyway. ??????

Hello @PCGWords,

I am sorry to hear you are having troubles while attempting to get a new phone. You certainly shouldn’t be having this much trouble trying to get a phone you are interested in purchasing. I will be happy to help!

Can I have you send me a private message to @ATTCares with your full name, mobile number, the stores you visited and the names of any representatives who assisted you?

I look forward to hearing from you!

You can always buy a phone at full price.  It sounds like you went to an authorized retailer.  Try Best Buy and buy the unlocked version, not the ATT version.  The advantage of an ATT phone is only for postpaid customers.  As a prepaid customer you are better off buying an unlocked phone which will work on any network.
