Unlocking a phone is free. Unless you are talking about paying off your phone to unlock, there is no payment for unlocking but there is no order number when paying off a phone. Whoever you paid, it probablywasn’t ATT. To unlock your phone, use the unlock portal:

As @sandblaster mentioned, it's free to unlock your device. If you submitted a request using our portal, use our Status Tracker for an update on your request. Simply enter your IMEI number & request number, then follow the prompts.

 

If you paid off your installment plan early, then you'll need to wait 48 hours after you make your final payment to submit your unlock request. If you paid off your installment plan through your monthly bill, then you'll have to wait to submit your unlock request at the start of your next bill period. ***Note: The wireless number assigned to the device must be active for at least 60 days.
