Started a new line but transferred previous phone data over, can my family still track my location?

I recently just got a new phone with my own line and new phone number and I transferred everything from my old phone (that I still have) to my new one, which was in a family plan. In the family plan, I am aware that my parents were able to track my location, turn on/off my data, and see my messages. I am concerned on whether they are still able to do any of that or more when I've transferred all the data over to my new phone.

Good afternoon @CYrina, your family's safety is urgent to us, and we're here to help!

The AT&T Secure Family Companion app (a free app available in the App Store or on Google Play) must be on your phone and paired with their phone to get all the Secure Family features.

Here's how to pair devices:

  • On the parent device, go to Settings, then My family.
  • Select the child’s name and device.
  • Select Secure Family Companion and follow the instructions. Your child will get a text with a link to download the companion app.
  • Install the companion app on your child’s device and follow the pairing instructions in the companion app.
  • Wait for a message on the parent device confirming your devices are paired. When you go to Settings and select my family, then Secure Family Companion, you should see that it’s active.
  • For more help, see Pairing Android child devices (PDF, 640KB) or Pairing iOS child devices (PDF, 2MB).

Please let us know if this helps so we can assist further if needed!

Your parents were not able to track your location unless they subscribed to Secure Family and the companion app was on your phone or they had access to your iCloud or google account. Your parents could not read your messages.
