Prepaid mobile hotspot

I have purchased add on data to my hotspot. Even when nothing is connected to it, the data is gone within an hour. This has occurred 3 times in the past day. Is it possible that my device has been hacked? What can I do to correct this situation?

Hello, @Tkope! We understand the importance of saving as much of your prepaid hotspot data as possible.

We recommend turning off your mobile hotspot when it is not in use.

Also, be aware of what uses the most data. Here are some activities that tend to use a lot of data:

  • High-definition video streaming (900MB per hour)
  • Video conferencing, like FaceTime® and Skype® (480MB per hour)
  • Standard-definition video streaming (240MB per hour)
  • Online interactive gaming (60MB per hour)
  • Music streaming (30MB per hour)
  • Downloading and viewing movies or other large data files

We hope this information helps, and please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Your mobile hotspot has a passcode , so I can only be accessed by devices that have the passcode.

What are you using your hotspot for?

The issue I'm trying to figure out is Why my data is disappearing after I add it. We use it for home wifi internet.  The problem is that I have paid for a 5 GB add on, leave the unit on, check to ensure nothing is connected, then go out. When I return all 5 GB are gone.

Why are you leaving it on if nothing is connected?

Find another source for home internet.  At&t prepaid Wireless is expensive and very limited.

Verizon and t-mobile offer 5g wireless home internet.  See if your address qualifies.  Look into satellite.
