backup contacts on TCL classic phone

I cannot find instructions on how to move contacts from my new AT&T TCL classic phone to a memory card. I also cannot find instructions on how to export contacts to the phone. I was able to insert an old SIM into the phone and the contacts fro the old phone transferred, and I can manually enter contacts. After activating the phone with the supplied SIM, I now get a Sim full error andcannot find options to either move numbers to or delete from the SIM.

What phone was the previous phone?

If you have managed to save your contact list from a basic phone onto the SIM card, it may not be in a format the TCL smartphone can import off of the SIM card

That was no problem. It was an old Alctel flip. Just put old SIM into TCL phone and the contacts transferred all on their own. Put back in SIM supplied with TCL phone, and then started getting SIM full error. Deleted many contacts, also bought memory card and put in TCL phone. I can transfer out to PC fine, but not able to import. Can enter new contacts manually. Not able to find a way to move from SIM to phone memory and vice versa as I have usually been able to do on similar phones.

Hello @kwz, this is not the experience we want you to have, we are here to help you back up your contacts on your phone.

Here is a link on instructions on how to transfer contacts between basic or feature phones.

Please try these steps and don't hesitate to reach out if you need further assistance.

The old Alcatel phone was a KaiOS phone, but the new TCL flip is Android, so these directions do not apply. Thanks.

Thank you, @kwz for the update. Below we have provided step-by-step instructions from transferring contacts from a KaiOS phone.

Export contacts from a KaiOS basic phone

Use a Memory card or Bluetooth

  1. Go to Contacts (press the Right Menu key on the home screen).
  2. Highlight any contact.
  3. Press the Right Menu key for Options.
  4. Select Settings, then Export contacts.
  5. Choose Memory card or Bluetooth.
  6. Follow the prompts to finish up.

Please let us know if these instructions were successful.

Thanks. My question is how to do this with the TCL phone in the future. The TCL flip phone is not KaiOS, it is Android, so these instructions do not apply.

If you can transfer all of your contact list, or any other data to computer, back it up to Google. Google contacts, Google calendar, even Google photo will sync to any device that you sign into your Google account on.

Thank you for clarifying that information, @kwz

So we can provide adequate support, what is the model of your TCL?

Thanks "formerlyknownas". The contacts are backed up on Google, but the phone is a flip phone, and I have not able to sign into my Google account from it. I will try to load the vcf file onto a SD card and put that into the phone, but so far I have not found anyway to get the phone to look for files to import.
