Why are AT&T talk and text/data logs so woefully incomplete?

I have been an AT&T customer for over 20 years. In the past when I needed to document billable time spent texting and talking I could go to my log and have a record. For some time now the available data has dwindled to almost nothing where text/data is concerned. Talk is only slightly better. I'm retired now and starting a new business in which the same information would be helpful. For grins I went to my log for my usage and there was nothing other than what I assume to be spam texts. I have been texting with my kids all weekend and into this week and not one appears. This does not bode well for the information I would like to have for my business.

Here is an example. Other than "Rob" who is not an AT&T customer no other texts are documented other than the Robo texts you see. I messaged with at least 3 people all weekend and no log, these are AT&T customers using Apple products as I do.

What's up? Why even provide a log?

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure I understand. I'm not interested in the content just that they occurred. It seems that the messages between Rob and me did reach AT&T and they documented it. I am sure that in the past this was the case with all my messages.

I think you misunderstood the reply from @GLIMMERMAN76

IMessage is not sms text. AT&T never sees it it is processed through Apple as data which means all a t & t has recorded is KB of usage. If you want all text messages to be recorded you have to turn off iMessage, don't use FaceTime because that also is data only, and no advanced messages on Android either.

Moving forward text messages going to be sent and received as data as more phones use advanced messaging (RCS) Advanced messaging allows larger packets of information to travel back and forth like video and HD photographs.  It's beyond the ability of SMS (short message service) and even MMS (multimedia service)

IMessage, in particular, is end to end encrypted, so it will only show as data.

If you need the logs to show up, you will have to turn off and deregister iMessage and FaceTime calls.
