new account issues
paid, in store, tax charge on new pixel phone. postpaid plan. phone delivery in a week or more. Meanwhile, I can't create or login to my new customer at&t account online even though i verified email. Tried to sign up for AARP benefit signature program. After several attempts to upload my AARP card.. at&t emailed.. sorry, your not eligible bcuz you have exceeded the limit. To what? I've never used AARP before. Phone agents can't hear me. Everybody else can. I'm wary of false enticements & deceptive sales methods.
Must I wait till I receive phone first.. then create account?
Am I being bamboozled toward a $125 monthly bill?
Somebody enlighten me.

You would need to have an active phone number on AT&T and be able to authenticate via two-factor which you cannot do until your phone arrives.
All of AT&T's prices, and promotional deals on phones are published on the website.
You can expect your first bill to be very high. It would include an activation fee unless you had your AARP sign up during your purchase process.
Your first bill includes more than one month's service. Usually a partial bill with activation fee and then a full month's bill.
Credits on your phone may not begin on the first bill. Typically not till the second or third with makeup credits.
Your auto-pay and paperless billing discount of $10 per line with checking account or debit card will not appear until you have paid your first bill via auto pay and paperless.
The AARP discount only provides a service discount on metered plans which would disqualify you from phone promotions, or the premium plan. There is a $10 discount on premium lines for any signature discount program

This what happened.
Phone came in mail.
Activation, setup, & porting
Done easily. I just let the phone tell me what to do. A $900 phone oughta tell me what to do. The bill is gonna be a little higher than I hoped for. But.. I made my account online.. After I received phone.
Everything good so far. I'm staying.
