Would the 30 day cruise add on pkg be useful on an Alaskan cruise?

I'm not sure that I understand the benefits that the add on cruise pkg from ATT will actually give me. We are traveling to Alaska this fall on a cruise with NCL and have heard that cell service is not great and very limited (even when unlimited somehow). We were not sure if we should just get a better plan on board or get the att cruise pkg. The upgrade vs att pkg looks close to same price unless we get the highest offered by the ship. I believe we are limited by the ships capabilities regardless. Our current phone plan is an Unlimited Elite plan with att. Also, will we have extra charges in Alaskan ports with our plan?  Thank you for your help with this. Have a great day

Unless you need to make calls from the cruise ship, the cruise package is a waste. It provides very little data and charges for overages. You will have ATT coverage in all Alaska ports (so no extra charge) and any stops in Canada are covered by your plan too. There is a good chance you will have ATT coverage even when cruising near Alaska. If you plan to get the ship’s internet, activate WiFi calling, if you haven’t already, and use that for calls and texts when cruising. There are no roaming charges on WiFi calling. My advice is leave your phones in airplane mode when on board and only use WiFi.

Agree with @sandblaster

Please make sure you leave data roaming OFF.

Or you can put the phone in airplane mode, and then turn Wi-Fi back on in order to you to use Wi-Fi calling on board the ship as needed.
