Poor cellular service in Memphis area

Provided a comment on another thread and someone (skeeterintexas) killed the thread because it was started 5 years ago.  Hardly a justifiable reason to close it and only adds to the frustration dealing with AT&T.  The person provided no helpful input whatsoever, despite this concern being at least as old as the original thread.  Let's try this again and see if the same unhelpful response from some uncaring volunteer accompanies the poor AT&T service we get in Memphis.

Since 2019 at least, AT&T service in the Memphis area has been extremely poor.  Poor reception in buildings all around the area.  Cellular data is usually less than 10mbit while T-Mobile sees 300+Mbit across the whole area.  Calling AT&T has never driven any change in performance across multiple devices, resets, SIM cards, locations, etc.  How do we get someone to fix this?

Let's look into what can be impacting yourcellular service, pagat!

It's possible to check the coverage in your area when you use AT&T Coverage Map. This viewer provides an approximation of coverage in any U.S. location.  In addition, you can also check for outages in your area with our Service Outage page.

Even though AT&T is licensed to cover a particular area, there may be spots within that area that have little or no coverage. Unexpected network trends, including dropped calls, failed call attempts, and poor call quality can occur for a number of reasons, including but not limited to:

  • Gaps in network coverage
  • A geographic obstruction, such as a mountain
  • A type of building construction

To minimize connectivity issues, we constantly monitor and optimize our network to deliver the best possible wireless service.

These steps should point you in the right direction to resolving your experience with high speed data. In fact, there are ways to help manage your data if you find that you are constantly going over your monthly wireless data allowance.

Try this and let us know how it goes so that we can get you a definite resolution into your experience.
