Long post dial delay on wifi calling for some numbers
I've got a very specific problem but I'm not sure who to contact. I have one phone number that, when dialed from an AT&T phone while using wifi calling, there is a delay of 10-15 seconds before the far side starts ringing. If the user turns off wifi and uses the normal cell network, the call goes through immediately. Is there anyone at AT&T who can point me in the right direction?
A few other details:
This is happening for at least 10 AT&T users spread around the country.
It is not localized to any specific wifi network in someone's house or at a business.
I myself work for a telco provider serving the number in question and I have reached out to our upstream provider Lumen/Centurylink for assistance. They tell me that the call from wifi comes in on a different trunk than when I call without wifi calling enabled. And since the call is delayed before it even hits the Lumen network, there's nothing they can do.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

We are here to help with your delayed Wi-Fi calling concern herefishyfishy7!
Wi-Fi Calling steps in when there's a weak or unavailable cellular network signal. When there is both a strong cellular signal and strong Wi-Fi signal, the phone defaults to the cellular network.
To "force" the device to use Wi-Fi Calling, customers can put the device in airplane mode and then turn on Wi-Fi service. Calls drop if the customer loses Wi-Fi coverage with the phone in airplane mode.
What you need to use Wi-Fi Calling
You can call, text, and use Visual Voicemail with Wi-Fi Calling. Just make sure you have:

Hi ATTHelp, Thanks for your reply but my concern has nothing to do with what wifi calling is or how to use it. I have a very specific problem when dialing one number and I'm hoping to get in touch with an engineer who can understand what's going on and look at call routing records to figure out what's happening. Thanks.

Sorry to say that’s likely not going to happen here. Even if you could engage an engineer, I can’t imagine anyone willing to spend much time on a problem that’s not really a problem since the calls still go through.

Thanks, it certainly won't happen if I don't at least try. I was hoping to get lucky but that doesn't seem to be the case. Sorry to bother the forums.

@herefishyfishy7 my company has been experiencing issues with PDD all week. Finally our carrier has said upstream carriers are having a problem with excessive PDD this week... They believe it may be some larger underlying event occurring amongst the large carriers...
