Switching prepaid $0.25 plan to new phone

My current phone is a flip phone from years ago. The plan I have is the prepaid $0.25 per min plan. Since at&t is doing away with 3g service, I will be forced to get a new phone. I want to keep my same plan because I do not have need for the internet. That is what my laptop is for. I have the phone mainly for emergency use. I am lucky if I make five one minute calls a month. In fact I have accumulated approx. $250.00 of air time. Can I keep my same plan and phone# with a new updated phone? (I am a senior citizen with very limited funds, hence the $0.25 min. plan.) If I can't, I'm royally screwed and would be without an emergency phone..

Yes, you can keep your plan and balance and phone number when you switch to a different phone. All you need to do is move the SIM card from your flip phone to the new phone. If the current SIM card is the wrong size and won’t fit in the new phone, you get a replacement SIM card and have ATT activate it with your number.
