Port Number from Net10 to eSIM and AT&T Prepaid Plan

I need to port my daughter's phone number from Net10 to an AT&T prepaid plan. She has the new iPhone that only accepts eSIM. I wanted to purchase the plan online but it looks like the only option is to receive a physical SIM card. Is the best approach for this situation to go to an AT&T store to port the number and enable the eSIM?

Let's point you in the right direction to port your daughter's number to PREPAID, lorack99.

Our first recommendation would be to use this resource to transfer the eSIM.

You can transfer your eSIM if both phones are eSIM compatible. Here’s how:

1. Start at Bring Your own Device.

2. Choose Move my number to a different device.

3. Select Continue, then sign in if asked.

4. Follow the prompts to complete your transfer.

While setting up your iPhone over Wi-Fi, your eSIM might download automatically or you might be prompted to install an AT&T cellular plan. If you have wireless service bars, or you can make a call, you’re all set.

Still don’t have service? Try this:

1.  Connect to Wi-Fi.
2.  Swipe down from the top of your screen to open your notifications.
3.  Choose the AT&T Cellular Plan Ready to be Installed notification
4.  Select Continue.

Don’t see a notification? You might have to activate your iPhone first.

Our second recommendation would be to transfer the number to PREPAID.

Confirm eligibility and info needed to begin the transfer
If the number is eligible to transfer, you’ll need to provide information about your current account to begin the transfer process. Any wrong information may delay the processing.

View a recent monthly phone bill or call your current service provider to verify:

  • Phone number you want to transfer
  • Account owner's name and address
  • Account owner's Social Security number or Tax ID
  • Current account number
  • PIN or password, if applicable

Please let us know this helps. Thanks for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums!

Hi, Net10 does not support eSIM. Also, Net10 does not have my social security number.  How do I port from the prepaid Net10 number that uses a SIM to At&t prepaid that uses an eSIM without providing my social security number?

Thank you for providing that information.

When porting over to Prepaid, there shouldn't be a need to provide a social security number because no credit check is required.

Just a helpful tip: It may be the best option to visit one of our stores in order to port your number over. If you start your number transfer in an AT&T store, your number will transfer to us within 1-3 business hours.

Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns!

This is an update on the process for those that may be trying something similar.  Step 1: Call Net10 and ask to have the transfer protection removed from your phone number. You might have to insist and escalate to get this done. The Net10 portability phone number I called was 800-327-2077. Step 2: You need a PIN to give the new carrier. Text the three letters NTP in caps to 611611. A PIN will be sent. You are only allowed 3 of these requests in a 24 hour period.  Some Net10 reps will insist you get a new PIN if there are issues transferring your number but its really the protection that probably hasn't been lifted correctly (see step 1). Step 3: go to at&t prepaid and select your plan and SIM. I selected eSIM and the prepaid 50/month plan. You will be asked for your SSN, the Net10 account number, and a PIN for the number transfer. Use all zeros for the SSN. Use the PIN from step 2. The Net10 account number may be the imei of your phone but you might need to call Net10 to get the correct account number. Complete your transaction with at&t. They will send a SIM to you via FedEx. Step 4: This is where things broke down for me. I activated the at&t account using the QR code then called the number included with the QR code. They informed me the number ported. However, there was no service. I was passed around from person to person for about 2.5 hours trying to resolve the problem.  The plan I selected at step 3 wasn't really selected, its just kind of a fake transaction.  They told me I had to pay to get my number activated. Instead of the $50 dollar a month plan I selected, I had to pay $70.30 to get service started... only service still didn't start. I talked to more people who refused to help unless I gave them the PIN that was texted to the number that wasn't working. Pretty much a few hours of (Edited per community guidelines) working through multiple people that didn't tell me anything and didn't help me. My daughter took her phone to an at&t store to get assistance.  The phone voice service started working before she arrived, but text messages are still not working... and now i can't reach her by voice either.... so that's what you get for 70 dollars.
