One person isn't blocked on my cell phone, but he still can't call, text, or leave a voicemail. How do I fix that?
Hello!
One person suddenly cannot contact me on my AT&T Prepaid Wireless account. He is not able to call, text, or leave a voicemail.
I checked my phone. His number isn't in the blocked list, so I can't unblock him that way. I deleted his contact information and restarted the phone, but that didn't fix it. I tried blocking his number, restarting the phone, unblocking his number, and restarting the phone again, but that didn't help. I re-added him to my contact list, but he's still not able to call or text me.
I don't have any apps installed that have anything to do with phone calls, and I don't have any AT&T apps installed, so I didn't block him that way.
I've found similar questions online, but no one seems to have an answer that works.
How do I unblock one specific person so that he can call, text, and leave voicemails for me again?
Thank you very much!

Hello everyone!
This is the solution I came up with for my problem. I had posted it as a reply to my own question, but I see that other people are struggling with the same issue, so I'll post it again!
I hope this helps everyone get their phones pointed in the right direction again!
Have an awesome day!

We'd like to look into why your friend can't contact your number.
With some details, we can rule out and investigate for possible causes:

Hello Jonye,
Thank you very much for your reply!
I am able to successfully call and text my friend, but he's not able to call, text, or leave me a voicemail. My phone doesn't even let me know that he tried to contact me at all.
I didn't make any changes to my phone or account prior to this problem arising. Per your suggestion, though, I did update my phone last night. I also deleted all of the blocked numbers I had. Neither of these things allowed my friend to contact me.
I worked my way through the Troubleshooting tool, but sadly, it didn't give me any new suggestions that I hadn't already tried.
What do you think I should do next to try to resolve this problem? As far as we can tell, my phone is the only one he's not able to contact, and his phone is the only one I don't receive calls or texts from.
Thank you again for your continued advice!

Hello there @MichiganUser!
We'd like a little more information about your experience.
If this occurrence only trends with a single contact, then your friend will likely need to check whether your number is blocked on their device. They may even want to perform similar troubleshooting steps as you've already tried such as deleting your number from their phone and test the results.
When they place a call and/or send a text, they should try dialing the phone number with and without the 1 prior to entering the 10 digit number (including the area code).
Let us know how this worked for you.

Hello,
I have an iPhone 8.
I recently switched my number from T-Mobile to AT&T. My friend did not try to contact me right away, so I'm not sure if the problem arose at the same time I became an AT&T customer, or if it happened within the first week or two. He was able to contact me while I had T-Mobile, though.
When I transferred my account, I didn't modify anything in my phone except for the SIM card. I didn't install any new apps or change any settings.
He is not an AT&T customer, and he has an older phone. He said that when he tries to contact me, he doesn't dial the number, he just goes into his call log and hits redial. This is how he has always contacted me, and it worked when I was a T-Mobile customer.
I had him contact another friend who also has AT&T Prepaid. He can contact her, and she can contact him. She can contact me, and I can contact her. I can contact him, but he still can't contact me.
One of the suggestions I found online was to delete his name from my contact list. I tried that, but it didn't help. When I put his name back in my contact list, I was no longer able to mark him as a favorite.
The next time I talk to him, I will ask him to make sure my number isn't blocked on his phone. (I'm still able to contact him with no problem, but I'll try anyway!)
Please let me know if you have any additional suggestions!
Thank you very much!

Hello,
As stated previously, I recently switched from T-Mobile to AT&T Prepaid. The only thing I changed on my phone was the SIM card. Everything else is the same.
I haven't been able to receive calls or texts from my friend, and originally I thought it was just his number that somehow got blocked. However, I eventually realized that every call and text I've been receiving since switching to AT&T has come from people with local numbers, while my friend's number is registered in a different area code.
Therefore, I reached out to two other friends who live in different states. It turns out that I can contact them, but they're not able to contact me. When they call, they are told "this person cannot accept calls". The phone call either disconnects after that, or it clicks and then says "this number is not in service".
Based on this, it seems to me that AT&T did not port my number correctly.
Please let me know who I can contact to correct this issue, or if there is another way to get it fixed.
Thank you very much!

Hello,
I believe my problem is solved now, so I want to list out what I did in case anyone else runs into this issue:
Today I called AT&T Customer Service (800-331-0500). I spoke to an incredibly nice woman who said she would run a diagnostic on my line that would take 10 or 15 minutes. After 3 minutes, she announced, "Oh, no, we definitely did not set your account up correctly. Let me transfer you to the Porting Department." (888-898-7685)
The equally nice woman in the Porting Department also did a bit of testing, agreed that the account had never been set up properly, and then said she would manually correct everything. Rather quickly, I received a text that my number had been successfully ported to AT&T, an e-mail from T-Mobile saying that I was no longer their customer, and AT&T called me twice to follow-up.
The entire process of getting this problem resolved lasted about 33 minutes, and as far as I can tell, everyone can call me again!
Good luck!

I have a similar problem with my AT&T cell phone (Samsung Galaxy A13) but this problem carried over from when I had my old phone, so it isn't my phone.
There are several people on my contact list that can not call me, but they can text me, email me, even messenger video call me with or without the cameras on.
They get sent strait to voice-mail each time they try to call me or even straight dial me, it just won't work. But I can call any of them any time and it always works fine.
