New phone transfer

What info will I need to provide the new phone company when I want to take my existing phone to Consumer Cellular. I currently pay as I go with At&t so therefore do not have any sort of service other than the go phone prepaid service.  Will i need a transfer code and have no account number that I know of.

You need your prepaid account number and account pin. Prepaid does not use a transfer pin. You’ll need to call to get the account number or try logging in at att.com instead of paygonline.com, supposedly your account number is displayed there.

Thanks so much Sandblaster. The only place  I seem to be able to sign in is at www.paygonline.com. I don't have any contract with att so don't think I have any sort of account number. If I go into the att store will they be able to find what I need?

I was thinking that all I will need is to have Consumer Cellular change my SIM card.

Yes, you have an account number. You need to call to get it, a store won’t be able to help. You only need this information if you want to keep your phone number because that is the information required to port a number. If you want to get a new number from Consumer Cellular, you don’t need any information.

Yes, I do want to keep my same number. Where do I find the phone number to call. Oh and I only have $2.95 left on my cell phone so hopefully, I can call from my landline??? Don't want to add more funds to the cell phone just for this since I will be switching service company.

So sorry that I have all these questions as I only use a cell phone for emergencies....don't like EMF's.

Hi Joycefr, let's help you with Number transfer inquiry!

Thank you to our ACE sandblaster, for the helpful info.

To port out, don't cancel your line and reach out to your new provider for the next step. To get your AT&T PREPAID account number, call us at 800.901.9878 (or 611 from your AT&T wireless phone).

If this does not help, reach back out to us, and we'll pull you into private and provide you with the info your new provider needs.

Let us know if this helps, thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

Yes you can call from a landline but the call to customer support is free from your cell phone.

Wow Rhoda...thanks so much for your thoughtful post. I do thank Sandblaster as well. I will indeed call that number and see what I can find out there. Will come back if I don't have success with it.

We'd be more than happy to help you access your PREPAID account number, Joycefr.

As previously mentioned by our ACE, sandblaster, all you need for the number transfer is your PREPAID account number and the PIN, that is associated with your PREPAID account. PREPAID does not require a transfer PIN.

We recommend using this resource to access your PREPAID account number

Please let us know if this helps. Thanks for reaching out to AT&T Community Forums!

Ok just wanted to say that I was able to get the info about my prepaid account number by calling that 800 number. Anna was very pleasant and helpful. I just wanted to thank everyone here that helped with this. I can't tell you how much this type of service helps, especially when we are getting so frustrated with these things. It's just such a comfort when we get the answers we need to get things worked out so thanks again to all.
