MMS - not receiving
Both my husband and I have Sonmin XP3 phones (prepaid talk & text) with AT&T for a year with NO PROBLEMs with MMS messages.
All of a sudden--just over a month ago--we started getting error messages when some of our contacts reply to a group message.
The error message says "Couldn't download... Select and press OK to try again."
Pressing OK returns a popup that says "Cellular data is turned off, check your settings."
Data was never necessary to receive MMS messages before and "data" is not turned on (nor has it been in the past).
Sometimes my husband would get the MMS reply and I would get the error message, sometimes the reverse, sometimes I would get the error message AND the reply, other times the reply comes through with no error.
Again, we've not had issues at all before this. We switched from our previous service provider b/c we could not receive MMS and were delighted that with AT&T we could!!
We have checked for and made sure we are updated with apps and firmware.
We have powered the phones off and on.
I don't have the ability to update or change any of these but here are the APN details that are in the phone.
APN says "nxtgenphone"
MMSC = http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy = proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port = 80
MCC = 310
MNC = 410
APN type = default.mms.supl.fota.cbs
APN protocol (&roaming protocol)= IPv4/IPv6
APN = enabled
Family communications via text have become very difficult. My mother has dementia and I'm missing many important text replies between me and my brother and sister.
Your help in correcting this issue/restoring the correct setting in order to successfully receive MMS replies would me much appreciated!!!!

Hello, I'm curious if you ever found a solution? My husband also has AT&T Prepaid service (I do not, I have Xfinity). He has had it for years without any problems but now when he receives a mms he can't download the picture. It just started about a month ago for no reason. I've done all the troubleshooting, check settings, turn on/off, reset network settings, etc. Its very frustrating because he owns a body shop and rely heavily on the ability to send & receive multi-media messages. AT&T has been no help at all as the customer service basically told me they don't know and offered no suggestions on how to fix it.

Irene,
I didn't follow-up with AT&T b/c I was sure I would get a 'no-answer' answer...considering all of the other posts I had seen from people with the same/similar issue...and I wasn't up for the hassle at the time. I was just coming to a point where I thought I might be able to stomach the dialogue when the issue appeared to resolve.
Over the last two weeks I have had NO issues with my MMS messages...so either AT&T fixed something or Apple fixed something (my failed MMS's did seem to have one thing in common--they were from friends and family with iPhones--some had recently upgraded [making me think at one point it was due to that, but then I discovered that others hadn't upgraded]).
I'm hoping the fact that it's working again 'sticks' as it's made communication with my siblings much less frustrating. I don't have to ask my sister what my brother said throughout the whole conversation! What a relief!!
Time will tell.
Dee
