Is AT&T forcing you to listen to a message when you try to dial out on a 3G phone?

I'm trying to help a friend out, she has an old 3G phone, and she says when she tries to call someone, a message starts playing about how 3G is going away, which she knows. Is this legit? Also, she want's a flip phone to replace the old 3G flip phone, can she get that online? I've searched the AT&T site and am not finding much help on that.

Thanks,

KR

Hello @,

We can definitely provide you with some more information on this.

We are phasing out our 3G network in February 2022 to make room for an even better one that will improve our customer's experience.

You can learn more about 3G going away in 2022 at the link provided.

As for your friend wanting to replacing their current cell phone, they may be eligible for a free/discounted replacement device so please have them contact us directly for further assistance.

Hope this helps!

@krrc

Very legit. She needs to replace her phone asap to keep service on.

Take a look this AT&T flip phone. She may receive a free replacement phone due to 3G shutdown by calling. Know that replacements are being sent out.  Contact AT&T and try for the free replacement.
